MRs. Vanacore
Executive director

At College Bound Academy, Mrs. Vanacore serves as Executive Director. Previously, as a Teach for America (TFA) corps member in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she taught preschool with the Community Action Project (CAP) and third grade at North Tulsa Lighthouse Academies. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and a Master’s Degree from the University of Oklahoma in Education Administration. Ms. Vanacore was chosen for a highly selective Fellowship with Building Excellent Schools (BES). With BES, she spent two years visiting high-performing schools across the country and completed intensive training while designing College Bound Academy.

Ms. Vanacore enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs, exploring Oklahoma, visiting her family in Connecticut, and reading. She is thrilled to open the doors at College Bound Academy in its first years and serve Tulsa’s students and families with a free, public, college-prep elementary school. College starts in kindergarten.

MS. Ackermann

DIRECTOR OF talent

Ms. Ackermann is originally from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, but considers Indianapolis, Indiana her home. She went to Indiana University (Go Hoosiers!) and majored in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Sociology and Psychology. She is a 2009 Mississippi Delta Corps member with Teach for America and taught for 3 years at my original placement school, Quitman County Elementary. While in the corps, she completed her Master’s in Elementary Education and then moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to teach Kindergarten at Statesville Road Elementary. While in Charlotte, she completed her National Board Certification in Early Childhood and has had the privilege of coaching new teachers across Tulsa for the last three years. This is her fourth year as an instructional coach and her first year at College Bound Academy. She feels very grateful to be a part of the team and is looking forward to getting to know all of CBA scholars and families!

Mrs. cox

Director of teaching and learning

Mrs. Cox is a Kindergarten Teacher for the UNC Homeroom at College Bound Academy.  Mrs. Cox is in her fifth year of teaching in Tulsa.  Originally from Wilmington, North Carolina, Mrs. Cox earned her Bachelor’s from the University of North Carolina in United States History.  She continued her studies earning her Master’s from the University of Oklahoma in Education Administration.  She loves living in Tulsa with her husband Jacob, her son Matthew, and her dog Pumpkin.  Mrs. Cox is thrilled to join the team at CBA and help scholars to succeed!

Mrs. Coleman

KINDERGARTEN Teacher, Northwestern

Mrs. Coleman is a teacher here at College Bound Academy. Previously, Mrs. Coleman  worked as a social worker for the Department of Human Services and as a Skill Builder for Union Public Schools. She received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Ministry and Leadership from Oral Roberts University. Mrs. Coleman enjoys music and spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Coleman truly believes that our scholars are some of the brightest in the nation. Mrs. Coleman is so excited to be apart of the College Bound Academy family.

Ms. Couch

Kindergarten Teacher, Central

Hello! My name is Sarah Couch, I am a Kindergarten teacher at CBA. I was born and raised in Tulsa Oklahoma. My major at NSU is Organizational Leadership. This is my second year teaching Kindergarten at CBA. Last year was my very first teaching experience in an elementary school and it was the best experience of my life, I’ve found that teaching children is what I was born to do, it is my passion and I am very excited to meet my new kiddos this year and see how much they learn and grow as CBA scholars! Mrs. Clark

Kindergarten Teacher, OSU

Hello! My name is Diana Marquina Clark and I am an kindergarten teacher at College Bound Academy. I was born in Mexico, but raised in Elgin, Illinois as long as I could remember. I moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma about 2 years ago. I went to Elgin high school and graduated the year of 2016, throughout my high-school years I would help at the local Boys and Girls Club with anything they needed, and that's when I realized that I have always had a passion for helping children. I’m very excited to start this experience here at College Bound Academy, it’s so astonishing knowing that there's an elementary school with such a strong mission and I am delighted that I will be a part of this! I’m looking forward to building relationships with the scholars and their families and to be a part of the CBA family! Mrs. Lopez

Kindergarten Teacher, Northwestern

Hello! My name is Haley Lopez and I am a teacher at College Bound Academy. I am from Quincy, Illinois. I moved to Tulsa shortly after graduating high school. I enjoy spending all of my free time in music activities like band, musicals, and choir. I also have worked teaching English to students from Central America. I never imagined I would be a teacher growing up but I have loved teaching Kindergarten at CBA this year! I am excited to continue this journey with Arkansas in First Grade and with all the amazing, bright scholars we have!

Mr. Jones

Kindergarten Teacher, OSu

Mr. Jones is a Kindergarten Teacher at College Bound Academy. In 2014 he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Literature with a concentration in Old Testament, and completed a major in Spanish from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 2017 he graduated with his Masters in Divinity from Oral Roberts University.

Mr. Jones has a genuine heart for children, which shows in both his commitment to early childhood education and to the children of congregation of the Hispanic church in which he faithfully attends. He loves going into the Hispanic communities in the city helping and getting to know families. He is excited and extremely grateful for the opportunity to be a positive influence in the lives of the children at College Bound Academy! Ms. Berry

First grade teacher, memphis

My name is Jessica Berry and I am a First Grade Teacher here at College Bound Academy. I am originally from Dallas, Texas but have been calling Memphis, Tennessee my home for 4 years now.   I went to The University of Arkansas (Woo Pig Sooie) and majored in Kinesiology. In the summer of 2017, I joined City Year in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where I mentored and tutored students in 8th grade math at Broadmoor Middle School for a year.  As I was looking to expand my educational impact in another state, I came across College Bound Academy. I have always wanted to work in an elementary school and I am so excited that my journey gets to start here at College Bound. I believe that elementary school provides some of the most vital years of your education and I am willing to do whatever it takes to help each and every one of my scholars succeed.  I am looking forward to meeting my very first class of first graders and to hanging out and learning with you this year! Ms. Potts

First grade teacher, arkansas

My name is Ms. Potts and I am a first grade teacher at College Bound Academy. This is my fourth year teaching, and my second year teaching first grade at CBA. I am originally from England, and moved to Tulsa in the summer of 2002. I lived in Fayetteville, AR for 11 years, and in the summer of 2017, I moved from Fayetteville AR back to Tulsa to teach at CBA.

I graduated from Union High School in 2006 and went to the University of Arkansas to study French and Art. I graduated with my undergraduate degree in 2010. I also attended the University of Arkansas for graduate school, where I received my Masters in French Literature in 2017. I taught French for two years at the University of Arkansas while completing my masters degree. I love Razorback football and anything to do with the Hogs!

My first year of teaching elementary age kids at CBA was a whirlwind and the best year of my life! I am extremely passionate about the impact we can make on children and their future by providing a solid, loving, and supportive foundation in their educational experience. I believe that College Bound Academy is the place where I can make a difference and help our kids move towards a bright and successful future. I am so excited to start this next year with my next first grade class and to work with families and scholars to grow and learn! Ms. Lindsey

First grade teacher, nsu

My name is Shalyn Lindsey and I am a First grade teacher here at College Bound Academy! I am a Tulsa, Oklahoma native and grew up in east Tulsa! I attended Northeastern State University where I majored in Elementary Education and received my Oklahoma Teaching License. I have worked in education for 5 years! I started out working as a tutor for a Tulsa Public School where I then went into a Teacher’s Assistant role through undergrad! I worked as a Reading Interventionist at Disney Elementary as my first certified teaching job!

I joined Teach For America and started working at College Bound! I am now a second year Corps member and starting my second year here at College Bound! I am at College Bound because I not only wholeheartedly believe in our mission to get all kids no matter the zip code they reside in or the resources they have to graduate from college, but am serving the community that I grew up in.

I am looking forward to starting my second year in First grade with a focus on content and making sure that our scholars are getting the most out of the knowledge that I have to share with them so that they are successful alongside the best educators here in East Tulsa! Ms. Cain

Second Grade Teacher, TU

Ms. Cain is a second grade teacher at College Bound Academy. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology with a minor in Art History and Museum Studies from the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ms. Cain is a 2017 Teach for America (TFA) corps member in the Greater Tulsa region and this is her first year to be a part of the College Bound Academy crew. She has lived in Tulsa for the past 12 years and is a Union Public Schools Alumni.

Ms. Cain is very excited to be teaching at College Bound Academy and cannot wait to meet all of the wonderful students and families in the upcoming school year!

Mr. Dudley

Second Grade Teacher, Langston

My name is Coleton Tyler DeVante’ Dudley, and I serve as the 2nd grade literacy Teacher here at College Bound Academy. I was born in Cushing, OK, but moved to Drumright, OK in the first grade where I grew up and graduated high school in 2014. I attended Langston University where I graduated Summa Cum Laude and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Communications with a Minor in Psychology in May of 2018. Currently, I am pursuing my Masters of Science in Education (M.S.E.) in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading Education from the University of Kansas.  In the summer of 2017, I served Project Transformation as a Reading Coordinator at a camp for summer literacy and reading improvement, which really solidified my interests in Reading Education and Educational Equity. I moved to Tulsa shortly after graduating in May of 2018. College Bound Academy will be my first full-time teaching experience, and I am excited and grateful for the opportunity. I am at CBA because of the direction and purpose of the school; if we can get our children to realize that college is a realistic goal, we can help change the world for the better. CBA advocates for educational equality and opportunity, and I also want to have a voice in that fight. I am encouraged to be working at such a unique school with such a great staff, and I am very interested in getting to know all of our scholars and families this year.

Mr. Trinidad

Third Grade Teacher, Texas

My name I Kenneth Trinidad and this is my second year here at CBA. I am from San Antonio, Texas. I moved to Oklahoma in 2007 when I graduated high school and attended Bacone College to get my Bachelors Degree in secondary education, I then attended Northeastern State University and earned my Masters in Teaching. This next semester I will be attending the University of Texas in Austin to earn my Doctorate in Superintendency. I have a dog named Bentley and I am getting married this summer! This is my fourth year in education, I did my student teaching in Fort Gibson Middle and Elementary Schools. I also substituted in both of those schools as well as the high school for a year. I am very excited to start my second year here at College Bound Academy. I have returned to this school because I believe wholeheartedly in the mission and that every child no matter their zip code can graduate from college. I started off last year as the Physical Education teacher and ended also teaching 2nd grade listening and learning. I am looking forward to starting my new adventure of 3rd grade math teacher!
