MRs. Vanacore
Executive director

At College Bound Academy, Mrs. Vanacore serves as Executive Director. Previously, as a Teach for America (TFA) corps member in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she taught preschool with the Community Action Project (CAP) and third grade at North Tulsa Lighthouse Academies. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and a Master’s Degree from the University of Oklahoma in Education Administration. Ms. Vanacore was chosen for a highly selective Fellowship with Building Excellent Schools (BES). With BES, she spent two years visiting high-performing schools across the country and completed intensive training while designing College Bound Academy.

Ms. Vanacore enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs, exploring Oklahoma, visiting her family in Connecticut, and reading. She is thrilled to open the doors at College Bound Academy in its first years and serve Tulsa’s students and families with a free, public, college-prep elementary school. College starts in kindergarten.

MS. Ackermann
DIRECTOR OF CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION

Ms. Ackermann is originally from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, but considers Indianapolis, Indiana her home. She went to Indiana University (Go Hoosiers!) and majored in Human Development and Family Studies with a minor in Sociology and Psychology. She is a 2009 Mississippi Delta Corps member with Teach for America and taught for 3 years at my original placement school, Quitman County Elementary. While in the corps, she completed her Master’s in Elementary Education and then moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to teach Kindergarten at Statesville Road Elementary. While in Charlotte, she completed her National Board Certification in Early Childhood and has had the privilege of coaching new teachers across Tulsa for the last three years. This is her fourth year as an instructional coach and her first year at College Bound Academy. She feels very grateful to be a part of the team and is looking forward to getting to know all of CBA scholars and families!

Ms. Richardson
Dean of Curriculum

Ms. Richardson is the Mizzou homeroom teacher. As a Teach for America corps member in Tulsa, Oklahoma, she taught first grade at Mitchell Elementary. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Missouri.

Ms. Richardson enjoys visiting her family in Missouri, spending time with her dog and reading. She is excited to be a part of College Bound Academy and to get to know the scholars and families throughout the year.

 

Mrs. cox
Dean of Curriculum & Instruction

Mrs. Cox is a Kindergarten Teacher for the UNC Homeroom at College Bound Academy.  Mrs. Cox is in her fifth year of teaching in Tulsa.  Originally from Wilmington, North Carolina, Mrs. Cox earned her Bachelor’s from the University of North Carolina in United States History.  She continued her studies earning her Master’s from the University of Oklahoma in Education Administration.  She loves living in Tulsa with her husband Jacob, her son Matthew, and her dog Pumpkin.  Mrs. Cox is thrilled to join the team at CBA and help scholars to succeed!

MS. strubhar
scholar advancement Teacher

Ms. Strubhar is the newest addition to the Scholar Advancement Team at College Bound Academy. Previously, Ms. Strubhar taught Special Education at Hawthorne Elementary School in Tulsa as a Teach for America Corps Member. She received her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Special Education and Elementary Education from Bradley University in Peoria, IL, and is currently working towards a Master’s Degree in Administration, Curriculum, and Supervision from the University of Oklahoma.  Ms. Strubhar enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She also really loves her cat, Leia!

Ms. Cain

Second Grade Teacher, TU

Ms. Cain is a second grade teacher at College Bound Academy. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology with a minor in Art History and Museum Studies from the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ms. Cain is a 2017 Teach for America (TFA) corps member in the Greater Tulsa region and this is her first year to be a part of the College Bound Academy crew. She has lived in Tulsa for the past 12 years and is a Union Public Schools Alumni.

Ms. Cain is very excited to be teaching at College Bound Academy and cannot wait to meet all of the wonderful students and families in the upcoming school year!
